Enable Analytics + Pixel Tracking

There can be a variety of requests from the Conde Nast performance media team to input tracking pixels or scripts for their conversion tracking. This documents sets to explain how to implement the different cases.

FACEBOOK PIXEL

  1. Get the Facebook Pixel ID required from client. It seems like they're using the same one across all brands now, which is 118057228897751, but if different, it'll still be in this format.
  2. Login to Shopify admin
  3. Click on Online Store -> Preferences
  4. Scroll down to the Facebook Pixel section, input the ID, and save the section


GOOGLE ANALYTICS

  1. Get the Google Global Site Tag from client that is generated from their Google Analytics account
  2. Login to Shopify admin
  3. Click on Online Store -> Preferences
  4. Scroll down to the Google Analytics section, input the tag code as is, and save the section


ADDITIONAL SCRIPTS

Sometimes client has other additional scripts beyond the FB Pixel or the GA tag mentioned above. Examples include Google Adwords conversion pixels, Google Adword event conversion pixels, LinkedIn checkout pixels and for safety measure, they also sometimes ask to put the full length Facebook Pixel CODE in here too.

All additional scripts can be copied & pasted as they are from client as follows:

  1. Get the additional conversion codes/pixel from client/performance team
  2. Login to Shopify admin
  3. Click on Settings
  4. Click on Checkout
  5. Scroll down to the 'Additional Scripts' by the Order Processing section, and copy the codes there. If multiple codes need to be inputted, make sure there is a line break between them (e.g. between FB Pixel and Google Codes).
